Stress Contour Analysis of Steel Plate by 3d Scanned
Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the stress contour analysis of a 3D scanned mesh of a steel plate member and
compare the results to those of a structured mesh. Therefore, the feasibility of conducting finite element analysis using a 3D
scanned mesh is discussed. There are two types of loading applied to the steel plate mesh: nodal forces and distributed forces
along the edges. Thus, it is investigated which loading type is appropriate for stress contour analysis using a 3D scanned
mesh.
