A Comparative Study of Marxist Literary Criticism in the Mayor of Caster bridge by Thomas Hardy and the Legends of Khasak by O.V. Vijayan

Abstract
This paper presents an examination of the Marxist doctrines ingrained in the two primary texts, The Legends of Khasak by OV Vijayan and Mayor of Caster bridge by Thomas Hardy. It also seeks to explore the abject manifestation of the same as the defined norm and structure of the society as products of their respective ages. The class conflicts, subjugation of women and the struggle between the capitalists and the working class is highlighted. The branches of Marxism are spread out to include under its umbrella, Marxist-Feminism as well as Eco-Marxism expanding the horizon of the research.
