Paper Title
Survey Of Rapid Prototyping Technology In Mechanical Scale Models

Abstract
The term “Rapid Prototyping” (RP) refers to a group of techniques used to automatically fabricate a scale model of a physical part or assembly using three-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) data. The aim of this paper is to increase awareness of the utilization of Rapid Prototyping technology (RP) in the field of mechanical engineering. Before investing in new production facilities or assembly lines, it is good practice to produce a prototype of the designed product. The cost of conventional methods of machining is very high and relatively time consuming. The practice of Rapid Prototyping, also called Solid Freeform Fabrication (SFF), exponentially speeds the interactive product development process. Case studies were carried out to illustrate the efficiency of this technology. Keywords: Prototyping, CAD/CAM, Manufacturing, Stereolithography, Rapid, Product Design, Layer-by-Layer.
