The Herding Behavior of Foreign Workers’ Mobile Phone Use in Taiwan
Abstract
Taiwan’s aging population continues to increase its reliance on foreign workers. Most foreign workers must work
long hours and cope with high levels of work pressure; for the everyday use of smartphones provides a means for stress
relief.It selectedvalid 309 samples of factory workers, home care workers, and long-term care workers from theforeign
workers to investigate the effects of pressure and herd behavior on mobile phone usage behavior.In the variance analysis
result of job categories, it found the factory workers replaced their phones more frequently than did the home care workers.
In regression analysis result, the higher their herd behavior and perceived playfulness are, the higher their frequency of
mobile phone use is.The present study advocates the rational use of mobile phones to reduce the stresses and psychological
pressures on foreign workers.
