Abstract : The cooling tower is one of the components of the air conditioning system that plays a role in maintaining the desired temperature to get the efficiency. A cooling tower is defined as a heat exchanger to cool water from a cooling machine through a condenser by direct contact with water or air using a large fan. Water in a closed system cooling tower circulation plays a very important role as a heat exchanger. Poor water quality and improper handling of water quality can cause corrosion and deposition of scale. Corrosion can damage metal material from the cooling tower which will disrupt the effectiveness of heat transfer in the pipe. Crust can inhibit the process of heat transfer and will cause an increase in energy consumption. One of the prevention against corrosion and scale is through ozonation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ozone use on corrosion and crustal precipitation through the Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) indicator, the maximum concentration of circulating water with/withoutout ozone and through the Practical Ozone Scaling Index (POSI) indicator, and water quality through Total Dissolve Solid (TDS) , Electric Conductivity (EC), and the pH of circulating water with/without ozone. The method used in this research is by injecting ozone on basin and conducting laboratory tests on water quality by the AAS, Titrimetry and Gravimetric methods. The results obtained from this study indicate that the cooling tower circulation water without ozone tends to be corrosive because the LSI value drops from -5.56 to -6.43 and that circulating water using ozone can withstand the corrosion rate because the LSI value rises from -6.43 to - 5,47. Circulating water without ozone is not good because the maximum concentration of the water drops from 1.47 to 1.45 and circulating water using ozone can increase the maximum concentration from 1.45 to 1.56. Circulating water without ozone is not good because it tends to increase in TDS and EC values and circulating water using ozone tends to decrease in TDS and EC values. Both of the circulation water without ozone and using ozone, does not greatly affect the pH. Keywords - Closed Systems Cooling Tower, Corrosion, Crust, Ozone
