Abstract : Graphene, a remarkable 2D material known for its exceptional properties, surpasses many other materials in various aspects. Conventional methods for graphene synthesis heavily rely on gaseous carbon precursors, primarily hydrocarbons like methane or ethylene, which pose significant threats to the environment. The pressing need for sustainable graphene production has spurred investigations into alternative carbon sources, focusing on utilising bio-based materials. This imperative shift towards sustainability and eco-conscious practices has led to exploring a waste-to-value approach. Reusing bio-based materials as carbon precursors addresses pressing sustainability and environmental challenges, effectively contributing to the realisation of a circular economy in materials science and technology. This paper provides an overview of the synthesis techniques employed to convert these bio-based precursors into high-quality graphene, shedding light on the process details and potential applications. Keywords - Graphene, Palm oil, Carbon Precursors, Bottom-up Technique, Top-down Technique
