Effect of Stress Relieving on Static Load for Helical Compression Springs made of Spring Steel Wire

Abstract
This paper presents the effect of stress relieving on static load for helical compression springs made of spring steel wire. Spring rate and static load is the most vital parameter in design of springs. In many applications static load at particular compressed length is important requirement of design. In this study experimentation is carried on twelve different helical compression spring of different wire diameter and different spring index. Stress relieving treatment (tempering) is carried out at different temperature in between 180°C to 330°C. Static load test is carried out for all spring samples. Variation in static load is observed.
