Paper Title :
Failure of In-Service Tractor Components by Fatigue: A Review

Author :Sumit Chopra

Article Citation :Sumit Chopra , (2021 ) " Failure of In-Service Tractor Components by Fatigue: A Review " , International Journal of Mechanical and Production Engineering (IJMPE) , pp. 62-64, Volume-9,Issue-1

Abstract : Fatigue is a very complex phenomenon. Most of the agricultural machinery parts fail ultimately by fatigue. In this review paper, the author has studied those components of tractor that mostly fail due to fatigue. The study revealed that transmission components like gears and shafts fail quite frequently due to fatigue loading. The other components like mechanical couplings also fail regularly due to repeated loading. Such mechanical failures can cause accidents and must be dealt seriously. This paper further presents the general methodology adopted by various researchers to investigate fatigue failure in machine parts. Keywords - Gears, Shafts, Mechanical Couplings, Tractors

Type : Research paper
