Abstract : Abstract - In the field of autonomous vehicles, sensors play a very important role in the whole system, and the range and method of detection obtained by sensors would cause huge influences on autonomous vehicle systems. In this paper we compared the abilities of object detection with two different types of lidar sensors mounted on same test vehicle in the same environment. The method used in the two lidar sensors would also be discussed in follow-up chapters. The experiments would demonstrate the detecting results of target objects including car, pedestrian and fire hydrant. In addition, we choose fire hydrant to test the effect of brakes on autonomous driving system. The conclusion explains the result of object detection based on both lidars.
