Abstract : Abstract - The intent of this research is to furnish a comparative study on design procedures for drivetrain system of battery electric vehicles (EVs) based on vehicle performance requirement and drive cycle. With primary vehicle specifications, one can determine decide the rated and peak potential of the drivetrain components. The ratings comprise of power, torque, speed of motor and battery capacity. In the suggested approach, the ratings are designed to attain the demanded vehicle performance with the help of direct theoretical calculations and based on drive cycle. The suggested power sizing approach is demonstrated under MIDC extra urban drive cycle. The comparative study of the suggested approach is examined with case study: Battery electric vehicle (BEV) with 3.5T Gross vehicle weight (GVW). From the comparison, drive cycle based parametric design methodology is preferred for designing EV powertrain. Keywords - Electric Vehicles [EVs], Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), e-axle, Motor, Drive Cycle, Battery Capacity
