Abstract : Coaxial cable is a type of cables specially built with a metal shield and other components engineered to block signal interference. It is primarily used by cable TV companies to connect their satellite antenna facilities to customer homes and businesses. Coaxial cable efficiency is multivariable control dependencies, which make its production and cost is mainly dependent on the customers’ needs. In this paper, coaxial cable efficiency, control is obtained using the Taguchi optimization method, in which small number of experiment needs to obtain the specific efficiency for specific application, instead of testing all possible variables, five control parameters affecting coaxial cable efficacy are selected including Insulator material, conductor diameter, Conductor material, insulator thickness, and Shield material. Each control factor with three levels. An L27 orthogonal array is used based on the Taguchi optimization method. COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 is used to simulate 27 experiments in RF mode, MINITAB software is used to analyses the data using Taguchi tools. The results show that the conductor material control factor has the highest effect on coaxial cable efficiency and the shield material is the lowest factor affecting its efficiency. The efficiency obtained in the Gigahertz range in 0.97 when copper is used as conductor material, conductor diameter is 2 mm, insulator material is polyethylene, insulator thickness is 4 mm, and shield material is AL soft. Reducing the cost, time and saving materials are the main advantages of using this Taguchi method in modelling or designing coaxial cable efficiency. This opens the door widely in front of fabricating coaxial cable with lower prices for short, medium, and long-distance applications.
