Abstract : This research paper aims to comprehensively investigate the wear and friction characteristics of Titanium Aluminum (Ti-Al) Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) reinforced with Silicon Carbide (SiC) under diverse operational conditions. The study specifically focuses on evaluating the performance of the composite material with varying SiC reinforcement levels, namely 5%, 7%, and 9%, as achieved through meticulous adherence to stoichiometric ratios in the Ti- Al base metal. The Pin on Disk test, conducted in accordance with ASTM standards G99, serves as the primary methodology to assess the wear and friction behavior of the composite. The investigative focus is directed towards scrutinizing the wear resistance and frictional behavior of the Ti-Al MMC with SiC reinforcement using a Pin on Disk tribometer. In addition to these tests, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis has been employed to scrutinize the microstructural features of SiC within the TiAl matrix, shedding light on their interaction. This comprehensive approach enables a detailed understanding of the mechanical performance of TiAl MMC under varying SiC reinforcement percentages. This study not only explores the wear and friction properties but also dives deep into the material's microstructural characteristics, offering a holistic view of its mechanical behavior.
