Abstract : This paper focuses on the design and fabrication of a semiautomatic portable noodles-making machine. A very high stress is affected at the end near the frictionless support of the noodles cutting shaft. The grooves and cutters of shaft wear, corrosion, and fatigue can fail the noodles cutting shaft. The design and static structural analysis of the noodles cutting shaft are presented by changing three different materials (AISI 1020, ASTM A 36, and ASTM A 220). The length of the cutting shaft was 220 mm, and the calculated diameter of the shaft was 14mm by using the ASME code equation. In the theoretical and numerical analysis, the minimum von-Mises stress and effective strain are found on AISI 1020 carbon steel by using ANSYS 17.0 software. Thus, AISI 1020 carbon steel is more suitable than the other two materials for noodles cutting shafts. The noodles roller has a 50mm diameter and 147mm length, and 27.34g is produced per revolution of the roller. The maintenance-free plain bush bearings were used to support the noodles cutting shaft.
