Performance Comparison for Lossy Image Compression Algorithm
Abstract
One of the areas where technological developments positively affect image processing applications. Especially
large sized images are used intensively in many applications. Compression of large size images is a necessity in these
applications. Image compression is a necessity in these applications. In this study, three different compression algorithms
have been used to find the optimal compression algorithm for large sized images. The algorithms used for performance
comparisons are JPEG, JPEG2000 and fractal compression algorithms. The results show that the most important factor
affecting the compression performance is in the image.
