Abstract : Abstract - This paper addresses a study on the impact of frequency up-conversion on the vibration behavior of a pendulum designed for an energy harvester mechanism. The equations of motion are developed for 4 degrees of freedom mathematical model using the Lagrange method. The proposed mechanism consists of a pendulum that is located near a barrier and a shock absorber. The presence of a shock absorber reduces the range of displacement of the mass, and at the same time, the frequency up-conversion effect by barrier allows the use of a structure with a frequency higher than the excitation frequency. Both of these effects lead to smaller device sizes. Simulation results reveal that, relative to a simple pendulum structure, the RMS velocity of the mass may be increased, while the displacement of the mass is simultaneously decreased, resulting in an improved energy density. Keywords: Frequency Up-Conversion, Pendulum Vibration, Low-frequency Excitation.
